Bark Place
Bark Place might technically be a hypothetical business, but what I learned about the UX process during this project was invaluable. This is a project I completed during my final year at MCAD, and I was responsible for the overall usability and user satisfaction of the finished product. Somewhere between interviewing my stakeholder, completing a competitive analysis, writing personas, and interviewing anyone who would let me test wireframes on them as my users - I fell in love with the process. Every step of the way was exciting and informative, and it lead me to explore this area further. If you'd like to read up on the business plan, market analysis, competitive analysis, personas, user interviews, user testing and all the other good stuff, feel free to check out my final report.
My Role:
- Interview my stakeholder, who provided me with valuable insight into the business, their goals, who their target customers are, what their success metrics will be, branding information, and a list of features to be included in the final website build.
- Complete a competitive analysis to determine areas of opportunity and areas where Bark Place might have challenges. I also came up with a prioritization list of the desired features.
- Conduct interviews with potenial users to determine what real customers would want in a business like this. Based on that research, create personas of the ideal or target custmer.
- Wireframes. Create lots of wireframes to be tested and tested again. This was my favorite part of the process.
- Based on the results of the wireframe testing, I put together summary of what those tests revealed about the current website functionality, and then made changes to the wireframes until the final product was intuitive and easy for users to access and understand.
- Create a final report to share all of the information gathered through this process with my client.
